Er wird ins Universum katapultiert, wo er versehentlich kosmische Kettenreaktionen auslöst, in deren Folge die Gefahr besteht, dass sich die Ice Age-Welt verändert oder gar zerstört wird. Sid, Manny, Diego und der Rest der Herde verlassen notgedrungen ihre Heimat und begeben sich auf eine Reise voller Spaß und Abenteuer. Dabei durchqueren sie exotische Länder und begegnen einer Vielzahl von neuen schillernden Charakteren.
